About SOUND

SOUND is a non-profit focused on environmentally sustainable and socially responsible practices for clothing and textiles. Our evaluation system and logo make it easy for shoppers to identify products that they can feel good about buying.

SOUND offers a solution to the market challenges of identifying and rewarding sustainability in the garment industry. You want to offer your customers a way to identify your environmental and social sensitivity and feel good about purchasing your products. But there has not been a consistent way to bring this message to your customers--until now.

The cornerstone of SOUND is the development of standards for the garment industry, similar to the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED standards for construction. Working with an expert advisory board, SOUND is developing sustainability metrics. Products and/or organizations that meet these standards will be certified as sustainable. These organizations then license the use of the SOUND logo to indicate their sustainability credentials. This logo/branding can accompany the product brand, much like an "Intel Inside" or "Energy Star" logo.

As a preliminary step towards certification and branding, SOUND offers consulting and analysis packages for apparel and textile companies of all sizes. Contact us for more information on how to get started.

Just look for the logo.
